Wine making runs deep within the Colombo family, a clan of winemakers whose wines I have loved in the past with patriarch, Jean-Luc Colombo’s broad range of Rhone wines. This white Cote du Rhone produced by Jean-Luc’s daughter, Laure Colombo shows that she has inherited her fathers skills as a fine wine producer.
Colombo & Fille Cote du Rhone Blanc
This wine is a blend of Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc, the latter a new varietal even for me, with the grapes coming from their vineyard in the Southern Rhone, near Cairanne, neighbouring Rasteau.
Clean, fresh, light lemon citrus aromas with some tropical fruit and bubblegum notes too. The more you leave this to breath the more this wine changes and develops. Palate; soft peach and banana, white pepper and a brief saline, mineral edge ending with a very dry, spicy finish. Nice!
