Today Magics Wine Guide & Reviews for Newbies celebrates its 1st birthday.
A year ago a friend of mine suggested I start a wine blog. She suggested that I could, in some way, share my many years in the wine trade with the general public. Not really given writing much thought I came to the conclusion, why not! My wine blog was born. It has developed to more than what I had initially envisaged. Such as the nature of wine, it’s always developing and changing.
A year later with 17397 hits and 452 posts I’m loving every minute of it. It has also found me stumbling into a new potential career in commercial wine writing. Since January 2012 I’ve had three articles published in Harpers Wine & Spirit trades Review and I now write a regular blog for The Huffington Post UK.
So thank you one and all for making it all worth while. Here’s to another twelve months of Magics Wine Guide & Reviews for Newbies.
Happy Birthday! Now we share, as today I posted my very first blog…maybe just to share my thoughts in a better place than a journal; but I can only hope I’m so successful as you have been 🙂

Thank you. It’s been an interesting year. I’ve found the whole process very enjoyable.
I never thought a year ago it would develop into me writing on a commercial level. I think it has helped me to scratch that creative itch I’ve had since my school days. Always had an artistic streak, never knew where to channel it. I also find it very therapeutic too.
Here’s hoping you find the same level of enjoyment as I have.
A quick word of warning, you might find your blog takes up more time than you had initially thought. It can be quite addictive 🙂 Good luck with it and I look forward to reading further posts from you.

Thank you.
Now the challenge is to come up with new things to write about. Not just for my blog but for my Huffington Post UK blog and for the commercial side. Keeps it interesting.
Mike.

Tell me about it. Never thought I’d get this far into it and it lead to commercial writing too. Got a message, via Linkdin, yesterday. A Champagne bar-Restaurant owner in Covent Garden wants me to write a piece about his business. Popping up there tomorrow. Hopefully another article harpers will take.
