I’ve set up two sets of questions.
One for the General Public and the
other for Wine Professionals.
Let’s see what they have to say….
General Public.
1- Name? Lukas Petrenka
2- Occupation? Company director
3- What is your favourite grape? Shiraz-Petit Verdot, Gewürztraminer, Riesling.
4- What is your favourite wine?
I have no one favourite, it’s just so many nice wines out there! Each and every wine can taste differently every time you drink it. It depends on the mood, company that you are in, food and even weather I think.
About 5-6 years ago I really enjoyed Camden Park Shiraz-Petit Verdot. But unfortunately I can’t find it in shops now. I am trying to find similar taste, so I’m trying different varieties 🙂
5- Are you a fan of Champagne or Sparkling wines?
Yes, I love chilled Champagne or sparkling wine on a hot summer afternoon.
6- Do you have a country of preference?
Australia, Italy, Spain – red. Germany, New Zeland, France – white.
7- How do you enjoy wine? With food, on it’s own, social etc.
Hm. It depends. Sometimes just a glass on its own. Sometimes I enjoy wine with food – Italian dishes, stakes with a nice glass of red. Sometimes in a good company, interesting discussion, glass of wine – perfect!
8- What influences your wine choices? Price, occasion, season etc.
I would say (mostly) season. I prefer red in winter, white in summer. But sometimes I just want to try something different, interesting, that I haven’t tried before. So it also depends on the mood and occasion probably.
9- How much do you roughly spend on a bottle of wine? £5-15
10- Do you think retailers do enough to educate the public on wine? I don’t mean health wise.
I don’t think so. There are just a few wine shops in my area and they don’t do much about educating their customers.. There are not many passionate wine retailers/specialists like you who love wine and love educating others.
11- How would you describe your own level of wine knowledge?
I would say advanced beginner 🙂 I had a chance to work with Mike and get a lot of valuable information about wines. It made wine special for me and gave me the basic understanding and started my interest in wine and I am still enjoying it!
12- Would you like to know more?
Of course, I always want to know more. I would like to do more tastings of different varieties/regions that I haven’t tried before.
13- What is the best thing, for you, about wine?
Trying new wines, culture of wine and how interesting is to try new wines.
14- Are you a wine ‘Buff’ or a wine ‘Scruff?’
🙂 Probably none. I just enjoy wine and try to learn and explore different grapes, countries, regions. Cheers!
Thank you Lukas.
If you’re a member of the public, or wine professional, and would like to take part then let me know. Leave me your details and I’ll email you the relevant questions.
