Viu Manent Estate Collection Malbec 2010
Colchagua – Chile
Grape Variety – Malbec
ABV 13.5%
Clean, young, deep purple colours. On the nose we have a good mix of raspberries, cassis, some creaminess blended in with distinct vegetation, bushes. Lovely warm, soft red fruit with a touch of bitterness on the palate. To finish the wine has some good acidity, medium – low in tannin with decent length. Medium – full body.
I really enjoyed this wine. It has a youthful vibrancy that I like. On the nose it has a myriad of aromas that change every time you take a whiff. It’s not a full bodied wine, which just goes to show how diverse Malbec can be. The fruit has an organic, fresh feel. There is an earthiness to it which backs up the lovely fruit you pick up on the palate. The more I write the more I think about summer fruit puddings. Probably the best way to describe it in short. Great wine.
If you’re looking for a good summer red at a bargain price then you are not going to go to wrong with this one. Just to experience the ever changing characteristics make it a joy to drink.
Drink on it’s own or with beef, lamb dishes.
